Let Kyra Parsi Get Her Hooks in Your Romance-Loving Heart

Banter, wit, enemies-to-lovers, antagonistic cats.

Kyra Parsi has a formula:

A grumpy billionaire with a heart of gold buried deep, deep inside. Somewhere.

A pragmatic, clever FMC who knows who she is and lives it in every aspect of her life.

Every FMC and MMC pair in Kyra Parsi’s books embodies these virtues. And you’d think that if her character recipe is this consistent, you’d eventually get tired of repetition. But you’d be wrong. YOU’D. BE. WRONG. Because each one of her books has a life of its own and a unique revenge-to-redemption arc.

We’ve read 4 out of her 5 books. And one of us (side eyes to Penelope) loved each one.

Book cover for “A Deal with the Bossy Devil” by Kyra Parsi shows a woman tugging a man by his tie, they’re standing on a terrace. Book cover is blue. Typeface is light yellow script.

☆ 4.5

A Deal with the Bossy Devil by Kyra Parsi

  • Series: Bad Billionaire Bosses #1

  • Pages: 432 pages

  • Tropes: Revenge, FMC has a Cute Cat, Boss/Employee, Billionaire, Slow Burn, Enemies to Lovers, Only One Bed, Fake Relationship, Forced Proximity, MCs are Fake Dating, Grumpy/Sunshine, Hate to Love You, Opposites Attract, Dirty Talker, Spanking, Praise Kink, BDSM

  • My review: “This book made me cackle. So hard. Their banter is the best I've read and, while one specific thing was odd as all hell, it was so sweet seeing Ria give up everything to help her sister. I rated so highly because the revenge that Adrien had planned was absolutely positively fucking diabolical. Brilliantly black-hearted.”

  • Penelope gave it ☆ 4.25. “There’s just something I love about people that have descriptive names for pets - Toebeans Maguire - was perfect for the bougie, asshole cat that was the star of this book.”

  • It seems like most people who reviewed this with a low score were turned off by the “good girl” references and the kink. That’s cool, it’s not for everyone.

    • StoryGraph gave it ☆ 4.06, way too low

    • goodreads had a similar rating with ☆ 4.10

Book cover “Failure to Match” by Kyra Parsi is purple, two people dressed business casual in an antagonistic stance. City backdrop. Typeface is pink script.

☆ 4.25 Failure to Match by Kyra Parsi

  • Series: Bad Billionaire Bosses #2

  • Pages: 428 pages

  • Tropes: Billionaire Playboy, Blind Date, Matchmaker, Cute Cat(s), Forced Proximity, Forced Roommates, Dating Coach, Slow Burn, Witty Banter

  • My review: “Shocked. I was shocked how this unfolded. She’s a matchmaker, he’s her difficult client. And when he refuses to follow the ‘rules’, she moves in to be his full-time coach. Jackson Sinclair genuinely doesn’t want to be matched so he’ll do what’s necessary. When she moved in I knew the sparks would get too hot. You may not think so, but you’re going to love him when this book is done. Just trust me. And he loooooves Toebeans from book 1.

  • Overall reviews are pretty consistent, except Penelope apparently.

    • Penelope gave this ☆ 3.75

    • StoryGraph has a ☆ 4.15

    • goodreads a ☆ 4.18

Book cover for “Hate Me Like You Mean It” by Kyra Parsi shows a couple standing on a bridge at twilight, looking over the water. One streetlamp lit. Title typeface is purple

☆ 4.5 Hate Me Like You Mean It by Kyra Parsi

  • Series: Bad Billionaire Bosses #3

  • Pages: 418 pages

  • Tropes: Second Chance, Revenge, Enemies to Lovers, Childhood Enemies, Childhood Trauma, Groveling, MC has Interfering Family, Loss of Parent, Billionaire, Childhood Promise Fulfilled, Story told in past and present

  • My review: “They hated each other so much and it was ALL DESERVED. What a roller coaster. Quippy, smart, and downright dastardly. Didn't see the twist coming. Kyra Parsi literally always delivers.” That’s my official review. If you read Kyra’s commentary on writing this book, she openly admits that she struggled to finish. I’ll say this—I couldn’t tell. This is a fun read with strong characters and Kyra’s signature cleverness.

  • I’m genuinely shocked at how low the ratings for this title are. A lot of people are comparing this title to the others in the series. Here’s a piece of advice: You’re NEVER going to compare someone to Jackson Sinclair or Adrien Cloutier and feel good about yourself. But I’d say Dominic gives them a run for their money.

    • StoryGraph sits at ☆ 4.05

    • goodreads is just as low at ☆ 4.04

Book cover for “In Love and War” by Kyra Parsi shows a scruffy man in a 3-piece black suit fixing his cuffs. Title Typeface is white and “Love” is in blue script.

☆ 4.0 In Love and War by Kyra Parsi

  • Series: None, standalone

  • Pages: 235 pages

  • Tropes: Boss/Employee, Office Romance - Competition Rivals, 25+ FMC, 35+ FMC, Revenge, Forgiveness Arc, Personal Growth Journey, Possessive MMC, Witty Banter, Hidden Relationship, Enemies to Lovers, Forbidden Love Interest, Work Trip/Business Trip, Sleeping with the Boss

  • “Oh shit. This starts with Amelia getting her ass handed to her. She comes back for revenge, realizes that Zac is kinda...the bee's knees...and finally FINALLY lets the past rest to give her life a chance at happiness. Heart eyes all around.”

  • Penelope gave this ☆ 3.5

    • “I liked that this was a shorter book and that it didn't go on and on and on like some romance books do. I had some trouble dealing with certain elements of this book: as a marketer, we do NOT make the money to buy a Maserati - that's just dumb. Second, her father leaving Zac on speaker phone was a total betrayal. I would have been PISSED. And then he just removed the non-fraternization policy like it was nothing. Weird. Felt like parts of the story were missing for me. More development was needed in order for these characters to truly be In Love. Also, i can't get over the charcoal grey suit with brown shoes. That's a nope for me.”

  • StoryGraph gave it a similar ☆ 3.55

  • goodreads was more generous with ☆ 3.75

Book cover for “Fool them once” by Kyra Parsi has blue cover with a man and a woman separated by the title, looking at one another.

Full Disclosure: We haven’t read this one and we don’t recommend books we haven’t read. But we’re also completionists. So even if we haven’t read it, this blog is about all of her books and gestures wildly this is one of those.
